Notwithstanding Section 22009.1, each retirement system which covers positions of policemen or firemen, or both, and other positions shall constitute a separate retirement system with respect to the positions of policemen or firemen, or both, covered by the system. Policemen and firemen shall vote separately from the other members of the system.If the federal system is extended to any fireman’s or policeman’s position it shall be extended to them as a unit without any division of their separate retirement systems.(Amended by Stats. 1967, Ch. 1353.)
