(a) Except as described in subdivision (b), a department may participate in and make all of its volunteers members of the award system by a contract entered into between the governing body of the department and the board pursuant to this chapter.(b) The board may prohibit a new contract with or may establish terms and conditions regarding a new contract for a department that has previously terminated a contract for participation under this chapter.(Repealed and added by Stats. 2007, Ch. 651, Sec. 2.
