The board may study, evaluate, and recommend cleanup of toxic and explosive substances within the area of the base to the federal government, including the Department of Defense, and the State of California, if it determines that doing so is in the best interests of the communities surrounding the military base area.(Added by Stats. 1994, Ch. 1165, Sec. 1.
