1155. The president of the board may administer oaths in regard to any matter properly before it and he or she may issue subpoenas for witnesses in like cases. A witness disobeying the subpoena served on him or her shall incur a penalty of five hundred dollars ($500), for which judgment may be recovered by the board in a civil action. This section shall not apply to proceedings conducted in accordance with Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 11500) of Part 1 of Division 3 of Title 2 of the Government Code.(Amended by Stats. 2008, Ch. 567, Sec. 10.
