106735. Only a person who has qualified as a registered environmental health specialist and who holds a valid registration certificate issued in conformance with Section 106710 for use in this state shall have the right and privilege of using the title 'registered environmental health specialist' and to use the abbreviation 'R.E.H.S.' after the person’s name. Only a person who has qualified as a registered environmental health specialist trainee and has a letter of acceptance issued by the department shall have the right and privilege of using the title 'registered environmental health specialist trainee.'Except as permitted in Section 106600 any use of the words 'registered sanitarian' or other use of the words 'registered environmental health specialist' to denote a working title is prohibited.A person who violates any provision of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and may be fined a sum not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) or imprisoned for not more than 180 days, or both.(Added by Stats. 1995, Ch. 415, Sec. 6. Effective January 1, 1996.)
