Section 12-245-603 - Practice of licensed professional counseling defined

(1) For purposes of this part 6, 'practice of licensed professional counseling' means the application of mental health, psychological, or human development principles through cognitive, affective, behavioral, or systematic intervention strategies that address wellness, personal growth, or career development, as well as pathology. A licensed professional counselor may render the application of these principles to individuals, couples, families, or groups.(2) The practice of professional counseling may include:(a) Evaluation;(b) Assessment;(c) Testing;(d) Diagnosis;(e) Treatment or intervention;(f) Planning;(g) Consultation;(h) Case management;(i) Education;(j) Supervision;(k) Psychotherapy;(l) Research;(m) Referral; and(n) Crisis intervention.(3) The practice of professional counseling includes the clinical supervision by a licensed professional counselor of a person working toward certification as a certified addiction technician or a certified addiction specialist pursuant to section 12-245-804 (3.5), if the licensed professional counselor has met the education requirements for a licensed addiction counselor, or the equivalent, as specified in rules promulgated by the state board
