(1) The general assembly hereby finds and declares that, for purposes of section 17 of article IX of the state constitution:(a) Good nutrition is an essential component to student learning and promotes success for students in today's fast-paced environment;(b) By increasing the number of students who can receive a free, nutritious lunch, the school lunch program is an important component of an accountable program to meet state academic standards, and may therefore receive funding from the state education fund created in section 17 (4) of article IX of the state constitution.L. 2008: Entire article added, p. 1640, § 2, effective August 5.
