(1) There is hereby created a department of law, the head of which shall be the attorney general.(2) Except as otherwise provided in this article 1 or by law:(a) The department of law, created in article 31 of this title 24, is a type 2 entity, as defined in section 24-1-105, and exercises its powers and performs its duties and functions as specified by law and subject to the state constitution.(b) The office of the attorney general is a type 2 entity, as defined in section 24-1-105, and exercises its powers and performs its duties and functions as vested in the office of the attorney general by law or the state constitution.(3) and (4) Repealed.Amended by 2022 Ch. 469, § 8, eff. 8/10/2022.Amended by 2020 Ch. 12, § 1, eff. 9/1/2020.Amended by 2017 Ch. 260, § 19, eff. 8/9/2017.L. 68: p. 76, § 13.
