Section 24-51-612 - Required benefit commencement date

(1) Payment of retirement benefits, for vested inactive members and deferred DPS members who are eligible to receive retirement benefits and who have not applied for such pursuant to the provisions of section 24-51-602, shall commence no later than April 1 of the calendar year following the calendar year in which the vested inactive member or deferred DPS member attains seventy and one-half years of age.(2) Payment of retirement benefits, for members and DPS members who are eligible to receive retirement benefits and who have not applied for such pursuant to the provisions of section 24-51-602, and who continue membership after attaining seventy and one-half years of age, shall commence on the effective date of retirement.L. 90: Entire section added, p. 1248, § 7, effective April 5.
