Section 27-65-129 - Payment for counsel

In order to provide legal representation to persons eligible for an attorney pursuant to this article 65, the judicial department shall pay, out of money appropriated by the general assembly, sums directly to the appointed attorney on a case-by-case basis or, on behalf of the state, shall pay lump-sum grants to and contract with individual attorneys, legal partnerships, legal professional corporations, public interest law firms, or nonprofit legal services corporations.Amended by 2022 Ch. 451, § 1, eff. 8/10/2022.L. 2010: Entire article added with relocations, (SB 10 -175), ch. 188, p. 700, § 2, effective April 29.This section is similar to former § 27-65-129 as it existed prior to 2022. 2022 Ch. 451, was passed without a safety clause.
