Section 30-11-120 - Failure to file bond - office vacant

In case any sheriff or other officer refuses or neglects, for a period longer than thirty days after receiving notice, to give a new bond as required, it is lawful for the board of county commissioners to declare the office vacant and appoint some other person to fill the vacancy, who shall hold the office until a successor is elected or appointed.G.L. § 567.
