Section 33-6-201 - Legislative declaration - scope and purpose of part

(1) The general assembly finds, determines, and declares that:(a) The purpose of this part 2 is to implement section 12b of article XVIII of the state constitution, adopted by the people at the 1996 general election.(b) The provisions of this part 2 are intended to honor the expressed desire of the people of Colorado to promote humane methods of animal control and discourage the use of inhumane methods while preserving the ability to protect human life, health, safety, and property by taking wildlife when there is no practical alternative.(c) Whenever possible, this part 2 should be read in conjunction and harmony with the other provisions of this title and with sections 35-40-101 and 35-40-102, C.R.S.; except that, in case of conflict, the provisions of this part 2 shall prevail.L. 97: Entire part added, p. 1065, § 1, effective May 27.
