As soon as the amounts awarded for property taken or in payment of damages have been tendered to the parties entitled thereto, respectively, or deposited in the registry of said court for the use of the respective persons entitled to said amounts, the city or city and county may have possession of said premises and may proceed with the proposed improvement.
