Not later than July 1, 1996, the Commissioner of Transportation shall adopt regulations in accordance with the provisions of chapter 54 to establish an 'adopt a highway program' which will permit business organizations and nonprofit community organizations to participate in litter control and beautification activities on all state highways and to receive recognition for their participation in such activities.(P.A. 95-241, S. 1, 2; P.A. 96-222, S. 33, 41.)History: P.A. 95-241 effective July 6, 1995; P.A. 96-222 substituted July 1, 1996, for March 1, 1996, as deadline for adoption of regulations and expanded program to all state highways in lieu of those designated by the commissioner, effective June 4, 1996.
