As used in this part, sections 14-103a, 14-149, 14-152 and 14-184, subsection (b) of section 14-196 and section 38a-356, 'major component parts' has the same meaning as provided in subdivision (2) of subsection (a) of section 14-149a.(P.A. 80-292, S. 1; P.A. 81-174, S. 3; P.A. 99-268, S. 13; P.A. 00-169, S. 22; P.A. 14-122, S. 105.)History: P.A. 81-174 amended the definition to include hoods, rear fenders and quarter panels and to remove floors from consideration as major component parts; P.A. 99-268 redefined 'major component parts' to have the same meaning as provided in Sec. 14-149a(a)(2) and deleted the requirement that this definition apply to Sec. 53a-119b; P.A. 00-169 revised effective date of P.A. 99-268 but without affecting this section; P.A. 14-122 made technical changes.See Sec. 14-149 re procedure and penalty in cases involving mutilated or missing identification, engine or factory numbers.
