Either house of the General Assembly may determine by majority vote that a person is guilty of contempt of the General Assembly, after a hearing before an appropriate committee appointed by the presiding officer at which the person shall be entitled to give evidence and be represented by counsel. Said house may refer such matter to the Chief State's Attorney. Contempt of the General Assembly shall be punishable by a fine of not more than one hundred dollars or imprisonment for not more than six months or both.(P.A. 73-516, S. 7.)
