The Commissioner of Public Health shall require each person applying for licensure as a social worker to submit to a state and national fingerprint-based criminal history records check pursuant to section 29-17a. For the purposes of this section, (1) 'social worker' means an individual licensed for the independent practice of social work, and (2) 'licensure' means authorization by a state social worker regulatory authority to engage in the independent practice of social work, the practice of which would be unlawful without such authorization.(P.A. 24-30, S. 2.)History: P.A. 24-30 effective May 21, 2024.
