(a) For the purposes of this section, 'drug', 'legend device', 'pharmacist' and 'prescribing practitioner' have the same meanings as provided in section 20-571.(b) A pharmacist may authorize or refill a prescription for a legend device if such legend device is approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration for use in combination with a drug prescribed by a prescribing practitioner.(c) A pharmacist who dispenses a legend device as described in subsection (b) of this section shall identify the prescribing practitioner who prescribed the drug that is associated with such legend device, and shall send written notice to such prescribing practitioner, not later than seventy-two hours after the pharmacist dispenses such legend device to the patient, disclosing that such pharmacist dispensed such legend device to such patient.(P.A. 23-52, S. 2.)History: P.A. 23-52 effective June 13, 2023.
