Whenever there exists or may exist escheated funds or property under this part, the Treasurer shall make demand therefor or request the Attorney General to institute proceedings in the name of the state for an adjudication that an escheat to the state of such funds or property has occurred, and shall take appropriate action to recover such funds or property.(June 30 Sp.
