(a) Except as otherwise permitted by sections 42-270 to 42-271a, inclusive, and 42-390 to 42-434, inclusive, a lessee may waive or agree to forego rights, benefits or remedies under sections 42-270 to 42-271a, inclusive, and 42-390 to 42-434, inclusive, only in settling a dispute or collection claim.(b) A settlement in which a lessee agrees to forego a right, benefit or remedy under sections 42-270 to 42-271a, inclusive, and 42-390 to 42-434, inclusive, is invalid if the court finds that the settlement was unconscionable when made.(P.A. 02-81, S. 7.)History: P.A. 02-81 effective July 1, 2003.
