It is hereby found that the state of Connecticut has a special responsibility for the care, treatment, education and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities. Frequently persons with disabilities are not aware of services or are unable to gain access to the appropriate facilities or services. It is hereby the declared policy of the state to provide for coordination of services for persons with disabilities among the various agencies of the state charged with the responsibility for the care, treatment, education and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities.(P.A. 77-589, S. 1, 9; P.A. 94-87, S. 2; P.A. 17-96, S. 35.)History: P.A. 94-87 changed reference from handicapped persons to persons with disabilities; P.A. 17-96 replaced 'education, rehabilitation of and advocacy for its disabled citizens' with 'education and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities' and made conforming changes, effective July 1, 2017.
