Any county or municipality may elect to participate in the County and Municipal Police/Firefighter Pension Plan beginning July 1 of any year on or after July 1, 1984. Application to participate shall be by resolution approved by the governing body of the county or municipality and shall be submitted to the Board in such form as the Board shall determine not later than 90 days prior to the date participation is to begin, except such time limit may be reduced by the Board. Any such application, upon approval by the Board, shall be irrevocable.
