§ 301

(a) The Insurance Commissioner shall be the chief officer of the Insurance Department. (b) The Commissioner shall be elected by the qualified electors of the State at a general election for a term of 4 years and shall be commissioned by the Governor. (c) Subject to prior qualification by the oath required by § 302 of this title, the Commissioner shall assume office on the 1st Tuesday of January after election.
