(a) The Secretary, or any person performing any function or work assigned to him or her by the Secretary, shall not disclose to any person who is not an employee of the Secretary or to any person who is not performing any function or work assigned to him or her by the Secretary, any information obtained from the inspection of such factual or physical exploration results, logs or records, or to use such information for purposes other than the administration of the functions, responsibilities and duties vested in the Secretary by law, except upon the written consent of the permittee or lessee making such information available to the Secretary. (b) Whoever violates this section shall be fined not less than $25 nor more than $100, or imprisoned for not more than 30 days, or both.
