31. Appointment of District commissioners. (a) The Mayor is authorized to appoint, with the advice and consent of the Council pursuant to § 1-523.01(f), 2 commissioners to the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact Commission, pursuant to § 3-1271.11(d), enacted and entered into pursuant to subchapter I of this chapter, and one alternate commissioner, who may exercise voting authority in the absence of one of the District's commissioners, pursuant to § 3-1271.11(g). (b) The Department of Health is authorized to conduct the criminal background checks required to be conducted by the District of Columbia Board of Medicine by § 3-1271.05(b)(2). (June 5, 2018, D.C.
