30.291 Closing of public facilities upon threat of violence.—(1) The sheriff of any county of the state is hereby authorized to temporarily close any public beach, park, or other public recreation facility within the sheriff’s jurisdiction when in his or her discretion conditions exist which present a clear and present or probable threat of violence, danger, or disorder, or at any time a disorderly situation exists which in the sheriff’s opinion warrants such action.(2) The power of the sheriff in exercising the authority conferred herein shall be full, complete and plenary.(3) Any public recreation facility closed pursuant to the provisions of this section shall be reopened by the sheriff when the conditions upon which such closing was predicated have abated.History.—ss. 1, 2, ch. 59-377; s. 185, ch. 95-147.
