39.6036 Supportive adults for children transitioning out of foster care.—(1) The Legislature finds that a committed, caring adult provides a lifeline for a child transitioning out of foster care to live independently. Accordingly, it is the intent of the Legislature that the Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office help children connect with supportive adults with the hope of creating an ongoing relationship that lasts into adulthood.(2) The Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office shall work with a child who is transitioning out of foster care to identify at least one supportive adult with whom the child can enter into a formal agreement for an ongoing relationship and document such agreement in the child’s court file. If the child cannot identify a supportive adult, the Statewide Guardian ad Litem Office shall work in coordination with the Office of Continuing Care to identify at least one supportive adult with whom the child can enter into a formal agreement for an ongoing relationship and document such agreement in the child’s court file.History.—s. 21, ch. 2024-70.
