116.015 Receipt of counterfeit money in the course of operation of public office.—Whenever a state or county officer who has unknowingly received into the public funds of his or her office any counterfeit currency discovers that fact, the officer shall furnish a written report of the matter to the appropriate state attorney, including such information as the state attorney may request. The officer shall not be personally liable, but shall be entitled to charge such loss as an expense against any available funds of his or her office, provided the amount of such charge does not exceed the face value of the currency so received.History.—s. 1, ch. 76-117; s. 741, ch. 95-147.
