§ 817.17

817.17 Wrongful use of city, county, or other political subdivision name.—(1) A person or persons engaged in manufacturing in this state may not cause to be printed, stamped, marked, engraved or branded, upon any of the articles manufactured by them, or on any of the boxes, packages, or bands containing such manufactured articles, the name of any city, county, or other political subdivision of the state, other than that in which said articles are manufactured; provided, that this section does not prohibit any person from offering for sale any goods having marked thereon the name of any city, county, or other political subdivision of the state other than that in which said goods were manufactured, if there be no manufactory of similar goods in the city, county, or other political subdivision the name of which is used.(2) A person violating this section commits a misdemeanor of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.083.History.—s. 1, ch. 4145, 1893; GS 3327; RGS 5167; CGL 7270; s. 7, ch. 2015-166.
