943.19 Saving clause.—(1) Any full-time, part-time, or auxiliary law enforcement or correctional officer duly certified by the commission and employed or appointed as of September 30, 1984, and any correctional probation officer employed or appointed as of September 30, 1986, and any correctional probation officer employed in an institution as of September 30, 1989, is not required to comply with s. 943.13(5) and (8) as a condition of continued employment or appointment with his or her current employing agency.(2) Nothing contained in this section or s. 943.13 shall prohibit the employment or appointment of an officer who was previously exempted from the provisions of s. 943.13(3) or (4).(3) Except as provided in subsection (2), an officer duly certified by the commission must comply with the provisions of s. 943.13 upon a subsequent employment or appointment.(4) The commission is authorized to issue an appropriate employment or appointment certificate to any correctional probation officer who is employed as a correctional probation officer on September 30, 1986.History.—s. 7, ch. 74-386; s. 4, ch. 78-323; s. 8, ch. 80-71; ss. 12, 24, 25, ch. 81-24; s. 1, ch. 82-46; s. 2, ch.
