945.043 Department-operated day care services.—(1) The department shall have the authority to establish and operate child care services for department employees. Child care enhances the department’s ability to recruit and retain employees in remote or understaffed areas. Child care centers must be located on or adjacent to the grounds of an institution or facility, and must be located outside the grounds of the compound area where inmates are housed. Individuals utilizing the child care services are not limited to employees of the department. Employees of other state agencies may also utilize department-operated day care centers. Furthermore, individual day care centers may enter into consortium agreements with their local city or county governments or the Federal Government, permitting centers to admit the children of those city, county, and Federal Government employees. Employees and other individuals who utilize the child care services shall be charged a fee for such services.(2) The department is exempt from the requirements of s. 110.151.History.—s. 12, ch. 96-312.
