319.235 Encumbrance of co-owned motor vehicle or mobile home.—When a motor vehicle or mobile home is registered in the names of two or more persons as co-owners in the alternative by the use of the word 'or,' whether or not the co-owners are husband and wife, each co-owner shall be deemed to have granted to any other co-owner the absolute right to place a lien or encumbrance on the motor vehicle or mobile home; and the signature of one co-owner shall constitute proper execution of the notice of lien. When a motor vehicle or mobile home is registered in the names of two or more persons as co-owners in the conjunctive by the use of the word 'and,' the signature of each co-owner shall be required in order to place a lien or encumbrance on the motor vehicle or mobile home.History.—s. 8, ch. 82-134.
