§ 466.031

466.031 Dental laboratories.—(1) As used in this chapter, the term 'dental laboratory' includes any person, firm, or corporation that performs for a fee of any kind, gratuitously, or otherwise, directly or through an agent or an employee, by any means or method, or supplies or manufactures artificial substitutes for the natural teeth; furnishes, supplies, constructs, or reproduces or repairs any prosthetic denture, bridge, or appliance to be worn in the human mouth; or in any way represents itself as a dental laboratory. The term does not include a dental laboratory technician who constructs or repairs dental prosthetic appliances in the office of a licensed dentist exclusively for that dentist under her or his supervision and work order.(2) An employee or independent contractor of a dental laboratory, acting as an agent of that dental laboratory, may engage in onsite consultation with a licensed dentist during a dental procedure.History.—ss. 2, 3, ch. 79-330; ss. 2, 3, ch. 81-318; ss. 20, 23, 24, ch. 86-291; s. 60, ch. 91-137; s. 7, ch. 91-156; s. 4, ch. 91-429; s. 263, ch. 97-103; s. 29, ch. 2020-133.
