Section 20-2-988 - Duties and authority of commission

(a) The Professional Standards Commission shall evaluate transcripts and issue certificates for all educational personnel seeking certification.(b) The commission shall follow policies consistent with general education objectives established under Georgia statutes.(c) The commission shall have the authority to hear the public, the teaching profession, and professional groups and associations on any matter of concern under the jurisdiction of the commission.(d) The commission has the authority to appoint panels of educators, including public school classroom teachers, to serve as members of teams visiting institutions and school systems having teacher education programs for purposes associated with the process of approving said programs.
