Section 25-6-8 - Establishment of pact districts; joining of nonmember jurisdictions to pact districts

(a) Pact districts shall be established along the boundaries of counties in which member jurisdictions of a pact are located.(b) If a nonmember jurisdiction is located within the boundaries of an established pact, it must become a part of that pact should it desire to participate in mutual aid activities. If a county or counties without member jurisdictions are encircled by counties having members of a common pact, the jurisdictions in such county or counties must join the pact should they desire to participate in mutual aid activities. If a county which has no member jurisdictions borders with counties having members of different pacts, the jurisdictions within the county which desire to participate in mutual aid activities must:(1) Join with one of the bordering pact counties, provided that jurisdictions in the same county shall not be permitted to become members of different pacts; or(2) Organize a pact, provided two or more jurisdictions are involved, as set forth in Code Section 25-6-2.
