Section 34-8-78 - Board of review; appointment, term of office, compensation, and removal of members

(a) There shall be a Board of Review of the Department of Labor, which board shall consist of three members. Each member shall be appointed by the Governor for a term of six years. Each member shall be compensated for such member's services, which compensation shall be fixed by the Governor and paid from the Employment Security Administration Fund. The Governor may, at any time, after notice and a hearing, remove any member for cause. Vacancies shall be filled by appointment by the Governor for the unexpired term.(b) The Governor may appoint additional alternative members of the board of review as needed to ensure the prompt and efficient review of cases by the board of review. Those members may participate in any cases in which the other members are unable to participate.(c) The board of review shall have the powers and authority and shall perform the functions conferred upon it by this chapter.
