(a) It shall be unlawful for the state; any branch, department, agency, board, or commission of the state; any county, municipality, board of education, or other political subdivision; or any officer, agent, or employee of any of the foregoing to purchase or authorize the purchase of any beef other than beef raised and produced within the United States when the purchase is to be made with governmental funds. This Code section shall not apply to canned meat which is not available from a source within the United States and which is not processed in the United States.(b) Any person who violates subsection (a) of this Code section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
