Asian Pacific Parliamentarians Union. § 6101. Asian Pacific Parliamentarians Union. The Guam Legislature shall be an associate member of the Asian Pacific Parliamentarians Union. The Speaker shall be Guam's Chief Delega teto the Asian Pacific Parliamentari ans Union. He shall appoint members of the Legisla ture or other citizens of the Territory to serve as Guam's delegates to attend meetings of the Union. The Guam Legislature may take whatever action is required to main tain its membership in the Union including but not limited to payment of annual assess ments, hosting meetings and at tending meetings. The Legislature is authorized to join, as a participating member , the National Legislative Confer ence, or its succes sor. Mem bers of the Legislature may serv e as officers of such conference, which is an organization com posed of legislative staff members and legislators from the COL1201062GCA LEGISLATIVE BRANCH CH.6LEGISLA TIVE CONFERENCES ,UNIONS,ETC 2legislative bodies of American States and territories, the Legislature finding that its membership therein would be of public benefit ; provided, however, that in sending delegations from the Legislature to the annual meeting of said confer ence, the members of the Legislature and staff members who attend any meeting shall be determined by legislative resolution. The Legislature is authorized to join, as a participating member , the Conference of State Legislative Leaders, or its successor . Members of the Legislature may serve as officers of said conference, which is an organization composed of the leaders of the legislative bodies of the States and territories of the United States, the Legislature finding that its partici - pation therein would be of public benefit; pro vided, how ever, that in sending delegations from the Legislature to the annual meeting of said confer ence, the members of the Legisla ture who attend any mee ting shal l be determined by legislative resolution. The Legisla ture is authorized to join, as a participating member , the Pacific Conference of Legislators, or its successor. Members of the Legislature may serve as officers of said confer ence, which is an organization composed of legislative staff members and legislative bodies throughout the W estern Pacific, the Legislature finding that its participation therein would be of public benefit. There is hereby authorized to be appropriated from time to time sums needed to provide for effective participation by the Legisla ture in the Pacific Conference of Legislators, such appropri ations to include, as necessary , contributions by Guam to t he expenses of said Conference.
