This Act shall be known as the Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Act of 1981 . SOURCE: GC § 10610 enacted by P .L. 16 -57:1 (1/10/82). § 57102. Inventory of Public V ehicles. The Dir ector of the Department of Public W orks shall maintain an invento ry of all motor vehicles owned by the government of Guam, its various departments and agencies, including autonomous or semi - autonomous agencies. The inventory shall contain a description of the vehicle, its engine or serial number, the entity using the vehicle, the date the vehicle was acquired and placed in the inventory , the date the vehicle was removed from the inventory and the reason for removal. Except as otherwise provided, the Department of Public W orks shall maintain and repair all vehicles owned by the Executive Branch of the government of Guam, its various departments and agencies, including semi-autonomous and autonomous agencies. (a) The Director of the Department of Public W orks ma y authorize an agency to repair and maintain its own vehicles if the vehicles are specialized equipment used primarily by that agency on the performance of duties unique to it.COL1201065GCA GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CH.57VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR 2(b) The Director of the De partment of Public W orks ma y contract with a private entity to repair and maintain a vehicle if no employee of the Department of Public W orks possesses the capability to repair and maintain it or if private repair and maintenance would be more economical a nd will not cause the layoff of any Department of Public Works per sonnel.
