§560:3-914 Disposition of unclaimed assets. When any real or personal property remains in the hands of the personal representative or trustee, after payment in the order specified in section 560:3-805, and no heirs, devisees, or claimants of the decedent, or beneficiaries of a trust, entitled to the property, can be located after reasonable search and inquiry, the personal representative or trustee, at the filing of the petition for final accounts, or termination of the trust, shall report the fact to the court, which shall forthwith enter an order authorizing the transfer of the property to the state director of finance, and the personal representative or trustee shall immediately transfer the property to the director of finance for disposition as provided in chapters 523A and 665, whichever is appropriate. The state director of finance, at any time, may authorize the payment out of the general funds of any amount so forwarded to any person who establishes to the satisfaction of the director of finance that the person is legally entitled as an heir, devisee, or claimant of the decedent, or a beneficiary of a trust, and the person shall be entitled to receive the amount out of any
