If it is determined in a proceeding under this article that an individual:(1) is mentally ill and either dangerous or gravely disabled;(2) should be committed to a facility for custody, care, and treatment; and(3) is a veteran who may be eligible for treatment in a federal facility;the court may communicate with the federal department concerning the availability of federal facilities and the individual's eligibility to be committed to a federal facility.[Pre-1992 Revision Citation: 16-14-9.1-15(a).]As added by P.L.2-1992, SEC.20.
