§ 13-11-2-184

(a) 'Release', for purposes of IC 13-23, means any:(1) spilling;(2) leaking;(3) emitting;(4) discharging;(5) escaping;(6) leaching; or(7) disposing;from an underground storage tank or aboveground storage tank into ground water, surface water, subsurface soils, or surface soils.(b) 'Release', for purposes of IC 13-24-1, means:(1) a spill;(2) a leak;(3) an emission;(4) a discharge;(5) an escape;(6) a leaching; or(7) a disposing;of petroleum into ground water, surface water, subsurface soils, or surface soils. The term does not include the release of petroleum into land used by a scrap metal processor (as defined in IC 9-13-2-162) or farmer, unless the commissioner determines that the release of the petroleum is adverse to human health.(c) 'Release', for purposes of IC 13-25-2, means any:(1) spilling;(2) leaking;(3) pumping;(4) pouring;(5) emitting;(6) emptying;(7) discharging;(8) injecting;(9) escaping;(10) leaching;(11) dumping; or(12) disposing;into the environment of any hazardous chemical, extremely hazardous substance, or toxic chemical. The term includes the abandonment or discarding of barrels, containers, and other closed receptacles.(d) 'Release', for purposes of
