§ 14-23-5-1

The department, acting through the director and the state forester, shall establish and equip a firefighting organization within the division of forestry for the purpose of detecting, preventing, fighting, and controlling fires in state forest land. The department may extend the same fire detection, prevention, fighting, and control services established to other state land under the department's supervision and control. The department may also establish the same services for land not owned by the state and not lying within a city or town for the purpose of protecting the forests, fields, and grassland of the state.[Pre-1995 Recodification Citation: 14-5-5-1 part.]As added by P.L.1-1995, SEC.16.
