The patients or the responsible relatives of the patients shall be notified by posting a notice in a public and conspicuous place or manner at the admitting desk or office in the hospital that a place is provided.(b) If the valuable personal property is not delivered to the person in charge of the place for deposit, the hospital and the hospital's officers, agents, or employees are not liable for any loss or damage to the property, unless an emergency admission occurs and the patient is unable to deliver the valuable personal property to the place for deposit and no responsible relative is present.(c) If the personal property is delivered for safekeeping to the person in charge of the office for deposit, the hospital is not liable for loss or damage to the property from any cause in an amount exceeding six hundred dollars ($600), even if the property is of greater value.[Pre-1993 Recodification Citation: 16-12.1-7-2.]As added by P.L.2-1993, SEC.5.
