A physician who diagnoses a pregnancy of a woman shall take or cause to be taken a sample of blood:(1) at the time of diagnosis of pregnancy; and(2) during the third trimester of pregnancy, if the woman belongs to a high risk population for which the Centers for Disease Control 'Sexually Transmitted Diseases Treatment Guidelines' recommend a third trimester syphilis testing;and shall submit each sample to an approved laboratory for a standard serological test for syphilis.[Pre-1993 Recodification Citation: 16-1-11-12.]As added by P.L.2-1993, SEC.24.
