§ 2-3-2-1

In case a member of the general assembly should die prior to the expiration of the term for which he was elected his unpaid salary for the term shall be paid to his surviving spouse; in case he is not survived by a surviving spouse then such payment shall be paid to his dependent child or children; and in case he is not survived by a dependent child or children then such payment shall be paid to his parent or parents and to no other.Formerly: Acts 1965, c.28, s.1.
