(a) The department, with the approval of the state board, shall develop and implement programs, policies, and procedures necessary to carry out this chapter to:(1) continuously improve teacher, student, parent, and community understanding of assessment results;(2) strategically use data and information from the assessment results to improve student growth and proficiency of all students;(3) instruct teachers and administrators on how formative assessment practices can be used on a daily basis during class instruction; and(4) if a through-year assessment program is administered as described in section 8 of this chapter, advise teachers and administrators on how through-year assessment practices can inform teaching and learning.(b) The department shall establish requirements for teacher preparation programs (as described in IC 20-28-3-1(b)) under IC 20-28-3 to improve assessment literacy skills to improve a teacher preparation program student's ability to strategically use data and information from assessment results to improve student growth and proficiency.As added by P.L.242-2017, SEC.41.
