(a) As used in this section, 'insurer' means:(1) an issuer of an accident and sickness insurance policy; or(2) a third party administrator of health benefits and services under an accident and sickness insurance policy.(b) The electronic data base by which an insurer allows an insured or a provider to verify an insured's coverage or benefits under an accident and sickness insurance policy issued or administered by the insurer must include the following information for each insured:(1) Whether health benefits and services under the accident and sickness insurance policy are provided by:(A) the issuer of the accident and sickness insurance policy; or(B) a third party administrator.(2) Whether the accident and sickness insurance policy is subject to state or federal regulation.(c) The department of insurance shall adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 to ensure compliance with this section.As added by P.L.111-2020, SEC.12.
