(a) As used in this section, 'certified copy of a certificate of title' means a document that is:(1) a copy of a certificate of title for a motor vehicle, by whatever name designated, that is issued by the bureau of motor vehicles or a governmental entity in another state;(2) prepared from a record of the governmental entity issuing the certificate of title; and(3) certified by the officer having legal custody of the record described in subdivision (2) or the officer's deputy.(b) In a criminal proceeding, a certified copy of a certificate of title is prima facie evidence of the ownership of a motor vehicle.As added by P.L.136-1987, SEC.3.
