(a) As used in this section, 'rostered volunteer' means a volunteer:(1) whose name has been entered on a roster of volunteers for a volunteer program operated by a local unit; and(2) who has been approved by the proper authorities of the local unit.The term does not include a volunteer firefighter (as defined in IC 36-8-12-2) or an inmate assigned to a correctional facility operated by the state or a local unit.(b) As used in this section, 'local unit' does not include a school corporation.(c) The fiscal body of a local unit may elect to provide insurance for rostered volunteers for life, accident, or sickness coverage.As added by P.L.51-1993, SEC.1.
